@Forest - Woah man, I really like the look of your new site. The only complaint I have is the text in your sidebar seems to hit the wood grain bg in awkward parts, but very very attractive. And on the web design job tip, the only think I could advise is get your business incorporated so you can start writing everything off! GL man and let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out!

Hey Bush... even after working in graphics for 10 years and being freelance for the last few of them I still make some of these same mistakes on new projects.

I actually just finished a new website for myself (frugalzeitgeist.com) and had no clue what to do when I started. I'm hoping to pick up some new web design jobs soon (this is new for me) so we shall see how I fare!

@Opal T - Yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I actually got a book a long time ago that had a sample web contract in it that had paragraphs specifically addressing this stuff.

Over my "vacation" I typed it up for design company, but now I just have to revise it as needed and use it for future clients. (#):)

That's very important put things in writing that way you can always go back to it if you are dealing with a client that is constantly making revisions, put in your contract that additional revisions/features will cost extra. You could charge by the hour for that.

You could always let the client make revisions but let them know that it will cost more, point to the contract if they get confused. You have to factor in additional time to complete the project. I would also suggest charging by the hour for the entire project in doing so you don't short-change yourself.

There are numerous invoice applications that will calculate the actual time you spend writing on a project. I use iBill but it's Mac only. I do that with some of the articles I write, research, and writing is factored in my costs.

You're learning so don't beat yourself up too much (yeah I know, at times, it's hard not too!)
