@Teeni - I've gone back and checked multiple times since then and so far everything is good. (#):)

@Pete - Oh, I know all about Best Buy and it's little tricks, ploys and money extortion techniques. They can never get over on me, (even if they try though the window) (#);D

@Forest - It IS remarkable that even after all this time so many Xboxes are failing isn't it? It'll be interesting to see in 10 years time if other systems suffer the same fate or we all just look back at this and snicker.

As long as the customer service kid is safe from trouble I would have kept it. YOU are the real one losing out as you purchased a faulty bit of kit and Microsoft should pay for that. In fact they should also pay for your gas, food costs, and some stress compensation for your time visiting the store to exchange their faulty piece of machinery.

I don't know how I would have handled it but I think probably would have done the same as you. If he is there every time as you say he is and remembers you then you might feel guilty though.

@Pete - Yeah, that's the thing. I know being a former employee nothing is going to happen to the guy either way. But I think I will go in there and just see what's up with him since EVERY TIME I go in he's there. (#):)

PS - As you've worked for them Bush you probably know what their policy is, so if the dude wasn't going to be in bother for not having a complete system, fair game!

I would honestly have gone back maybe the next day and told him about the mistake. He may say "no problem dude, you got the mad hookups" (or words to that effect) or he may be relieved. Could be the dude would get in trouble for not having a complete system to ship back.

May not be but y'know. I don't know how Best Buy would handle your broken 360, typically you should just call Microsoft and they ship a box, repair, return etc. But as you didn't have your warranty stuff then fair enough.
At least you got a working system again!
