@Apexad – Well I knew that there was really no need for the Best Buy warranty but then again, I’m a big gamer so even a day without my 360 would be like a day without sunshine. (#):)

@TGH – Hey man, welcome to the site and well done with the $120! (#):) Here I thought that I was the guy who could get the most out of Best Buy using various tricks and such… I really wish I had seen this comment before I went to Best Buy because maybe I could’ve gotten something back by downgrading myself. Oh well.

@Ivy – You know, I never really thought of it like that… But I’ll agree. When I got what I presumed to be the flu, I was sick for like 5 days, two of which were very bad. But the whole time, I new I’d come out of it.

After I regained some semblance of sanity after my XBox went, I couldn’t find my receipt which I needed to do the exchange. I was basically like a Tasmanian Devil ripping up every room in my house trying to find that freakin’ thing!

So I guess with the flu I was physically sick, with the 360 I was emotionally sick. I guess you know which was worse. (#);D

I got the RROD, but forgot about my Best Buy warranty. I went the Microsoft channel and two days later my friend got it and said he was going to Best Buy, so I ended up going that route. The Microsoft box took over a week to get here I had already shipped the unit to Best Buy and got my gift card a few days later. In the meantime, I bought an Arcade version because Best Buy lets you keep your hard drive. So since I got the cheaper Arcade and there was a price drop since I bought mine, I actually made $120 on the experience. I hear Microsoft has a new agreement with UPS where UPS will actually do validation and replacements, so it should be quicker. Good luck.

Also, MS specifically says DO NOT pack in the Harddrive so you’ll keep with no problem.

Red Ring of Death Warranty from Microsoft is 3 years. No need for a Warranty from Best Buy or anything.

On another note, if you want to last a couple more days while you wait for the box, you can wrap it up in a blanket and leave it for a few hours, turn it off, turn it back on. Worked for me.

Otherwise, turnaround time by the United States Microsoft is very fast, not like across the Ocean.
