XBLA – Battlestar Galactica Review
When Battlestar Galactic first came out on XBox Live Arcade some two weeks ago, there seemed to be a little bit of buzz around the net for this game.
So feeling the need to fulfill my civic duty, I had to go and try it out.
In hindsight, I probably wish I didn’t because despite decent graphics and presentation, Battlestar Galactica’s frustrating gameplay couldn’t hold my attention for 5 complete minutes.

What Battlestar Galactica It’s All About
From the XBL website,
Enter the Battlestar Galactica universe in Battlestar Galacticaâ„¢. Sign up to defend the Galactica, or play as the ruthless Cylons as they seek to remove the Human Race from existence. Pilot iconic ships from the Viper II to the Heavy Raider and lead your squadron in enormous fast-action multiplayer space combat (with up to eight players online) or play through the exciting single-player campaign.
What I Think Battlestar Galactica is About
If you ask me though, the game is about you steering dinky ships with jerky controls in order to mindlessly fire the same ol’ machine guns and missles at enemy ships and hope you blow them up before they do you. Laym. I’m sorry, maybe it’s because I like flight sims a little too much to play this nonsense.

Gameplay is Sooooo Like 1996
You see, even though you’re in space and put into a 3d landscape, as a pilot – You’re not given access to all those three dimensions. So combat is usually reduced to making large turning arcs until you find an enemy and then just jam on your missle as much as you can. (‘Cause heavens knows there’s no way you’re going to line up your machine guns with the jerky controls). And if you find an enemy headed straight towards you, well… They’re going to just be firing on you with all they got, just like you’re going to fire with all you got, and then as you pass you do a loop and do it all over again. *YAWN*

Conclusion
If it wasn’t already spelled out for you,

Well I won’t be able to try it out until I’m on vacation but that isn’t too far away. Can you believe that I’m actually taking my Xbox 360?
