Finally Changed My About Page
It was certainly long overdue but 5 minutes ago, I finally got around to changing my About page!
I had written about Changing What You’re About a while ago but between then and now I guess “Life” just got in the way. (I love that excuse). So yeah, I really tried to take my advice that I extracted from IHYJ and make the about page less about me, and more about my site(s).
What I Took Out
As I’ve said, my previous incarnation of my about page was all about ME. When writing the page orginally, I thought that bio information was really what new readers were interesting in. But just through time and experience with other new blogs that I personally visit, I often find myself FIRST asking what the site is about vs who was the one who wrote it. So yeah, those three or four paragraphs about me are OUT and two condense ones are in!
What I Added
The biggest thing that I was lacking on my About page was information that welcomes new readers to the blog. So that has been fixed within the first paragraph! Not only do I tell you a little (and I mean a little) of where the blog came from but I also show off a few of my favorite posts.
And finally at the end of my about page, I also wrote a little blurb about other sites that I’m currently involved in. I feel that this not only shows other sides to my blogging self, but also makes sure that everyone knows the things I’m working on even if they are slightly off topic from this site.
Future Changes
On the whole, I’m generally happy with the content I wrote up for my About page, but I know the wording of some things could be improved. In the end, I just needed to get it updated from what I had even if it wasn’t 100% what I wanted. Also, I would love to get another picture or two in there, and I will probably draw more attention to other blogs I write on by adding pictures for them and such. But other than that, I’m pretty happy with it.
Did you say you were going to change your About page a while back too? Why not just go ahead and get it done now!?

Yeah I did say I was gonna and I actually do have it written up too! Just haven’t had time to get it posted. I think I will try to make that change next 1-2 days! I really like what you’ve done and it does look great. I agree that talking about what the blog is about is a great way to go, just makes sense. I totally have the ME ME ME thing going on in my about page so the change and reminder is needed!

@G-Newt : Thanks for the compliments! Like I said, I know it could be worked on and hopefully I’ll get to it soon, but it’s definitely a marked improvement from what I had up there. *nod* Oh and GL yourself! Don’t delay!
@Aaron : When I was reading your second topic, the RAGE was BUILDING!!!! And then I saw you completely faked me out. Ha ha ha. And thanks for the addition to the blogroll Aaron, that anchor text is fine since I really don’t try and get my main page ranked for any certain kw’s. *nod*
