30th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s Death
Today is the 30th anniversary of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. I don’t know what TV and Cable is doing today (if anything) to commemorate the event but I know when I was younger there would always be a marathon of all his terrible movies that my dad would always watch.
I didn’t particularly care for the movies then, and I can’t say that I care for them now but as I’ve grown older I think I’ve come to appreciate his music or moreso his voice now. (Which if I had to bet, I’d say is the more important of the two).

Now I’m sure some of that appreciation comes from my dad, and I’m sure a lot of that appreciation comes from my general distaste in music now. In the end, I think it’s too bad that kids today don’t really know anything about his music. I mean, he’s the only guy to be in the 4 different musical Halls of Fame! Could any performer today even come close to that feat?
So hey, I’m not the biggest fan but he had some great songs and it’s suspect if the world will ever seen a performer like him again. Do you have a favorite Elvis song? Suspicious Minds is my personal fav.

My fave Elvis song is definitely “A Little Less Conversation”, I just love the line “All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me.”
Also of note, today is Madonna’s 49th birthday.

@Peg – I don’t know that song by title, I gotta check it out. And thanks for the note about Madonna. That CD of hers with all the dance tracks was AMAZING.

Don’t Be Cruel, All Shook Up, Always On My Mind, Are You Lonsome Tonight…
I think you need to dress up like Elvis

Nope, Elvis has never appealed to me somehow. I have enjoyed and appreciated the Beatles, but have not been an Elvis fan. I read today in the paper of his possibility of being still alive. Can’t be true…

Bush, in case it helps, “A Little Less Conversation” was used as the theme song for the TV show “Las Vegas” (I don’t watch it much but my husband does [did? is it still on?]).

I agree. The movies were horrible. I always hated sitting through them while my mom and dad would watch. But the music and stage presence was great.
I also wrote a tribute post. If you’ve ever wondered what the world’s best musicians thought about Elvis, now you know…

And yes, A Little Less Conversation is the best! You can download it on yourmp3.net. It’s been used in a few moves and such recently. IMHO, it’s his coolest song.
The lyrics:
A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby
Baby close your eyes and listen to the music
Drifting through a summer breeze
Its a groovy night and I can show you how to use it
Come along with me and put your mind at ease
A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby
Come on baby I’m tired of talking
Grab your coat and lets start walking
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Don’t procrastinate, don’t articulate
Girl its getting late, gettin’ upset waitin’ around
A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby
Shine on,
Aaron

@Opal T – Don’t hold your breath on that one. … If my hair was a bit longer though …
@Vinay – Yeah, for some people – Elvis just ain’t it. But the Beatles usually find a spot with everyone. (#):)
@Aaron – Hmph. Well if YOU say it’s good, i guess I really DO have to og check it out. (#):)
