Crippled Without the Internet
You take away the Internet from me, and you will have effectively cripped my online efforts. I admit it. The problem is that when it comes to the net and computers, I’m like a spoiled brat… I built my desktop myself, it’s kept greasy fast and of course I have the two monitors setup. All of my e-mail accounts are tucked nicely into Outlook, my RSS subscriptions are snuggly fit into Firefox, and my hard line to the net really makes things purr. Needless to say,
I like my setup. (#):)
My Personal Hell
For the last week, my Internet has been out. For those of you stateside, I’m currently with one of the bigger providers…Comcast. We have had our share of problems but despite this, we’ve stuck with them. And don’t think that Internet service is all that they’re providing us. We have our phone and cable with them too. I’m not going to go into all the details but they’ve probably been out 10 times since our installation (at least) and after the most recent visit this week, no internet, NO phone, and crappy crappy looking cable.
::I’ve been crying a lot on my blog haven’t I?…::
After putting up with this crap all week, I’ve finally ordered installation from the other guys (Verizon) and am very much looking forward to it. But yeah, stealing Internet from my neighbors and reduced to using my *GASP* Dell laptop, I’m dying. I don’t know how anyone uses these things.
Bear With Me
Right now, it’s a struggle for me to be online. You guys know I haven’t been “around” as much w/ work, but now it’s really a hassle. But don’t worry, I’ll be back up to speed soon and I’m still going to get some wonderful posts up, it’s just hard to make it to everyone’s sites as regularly as I have been and it’s also hard to reply to your comments as timely as I usually do.
Just know, it’s not because I don’t love you. (#):)

NO INTERNET? Dang, I’m shaking already at the thought of it!
Stealing wi-fi, you net junkie, Bush!
August 5th, 2007 at 4:58 am
While it was “No internet” for you , it was like “No computer ” for me , as my comp got screwd .
August 5th, 2007 at 5:25 am
Not having an internet connection is cruel punishment hehe. Don’t worry buddy, we’ll be here when you get back.
Madhur – I feel your pain buddy.
August 5th, 2007 at 6:50 am
@Pete – I was FORCED to the point where I am today. (#):)
@Madhur – Ooo. What happened?
@Brown – Thanks man. BTW, I found a website you should say “hi” on last night. I told the webmaster to try and find you. (#):)

I switched from Comcast a little over a year ago. That was the best decision I’ve ever made. I built all my PC’s also. As much as I love Mac’s I do miss building my own computers.
They’re tech support was a joke. I could tell you stories about the tech guys I talked to. I think they thought since I was woman I obviously had no clue what I was talking about! Ha!
I hope you’re back up and running soon.

I should have typed “their”. Your blog is a magnet for my typos. Sheesh!
August 5th, 2007 at 8:58 am
Sorry to hear about your connection. I went through it when I moved a couple of months ago, so I feel your pain. It’s sad in a way that we rely so heavily upon the internet, but ya know – it’s a GREAT thing! I’m addicted.
Hope it’s back up and running soon!

You don’t want to see me with no internet. I feel for ya, I’m another hopeless Comcast customer. We have the option for Verizon’s new Fios (oooooooooooooooooooooooo) but there isn’t much room in this little apartment for all the hardware that the Fios requires. So we are staying the course with Comcast’s shitty customer service. *sigh*
Comcast is on my shit list for taking away our NFL Network. Those bastards!

I don’t think I could live without my PC or without the wonders of modern days , like : The Internet , TV ( cable of course ) or iPod’s . Life’s simple for me as long as these gizmos are by my side .
I feel you Bush !
August 5th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
Is this a website for shy people? Hehehe
August 5th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
Bush ..
Hmm , maybe guys from comcast are democrats ..
mwuahahahahahahahahahahahaaha

No ISP = worst nightmare for a lot of us. Thanks for stopping by my blog tho. :c) I try to stay calm, sometimes it works sometimes I drive to another county to get my connection back, whatever works right!
@Opal: I mistype on comments all the time, I swear I am rereading them. My eyes are failing on me. I’m getting worse too.
August 5th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
I feel your pain – our cable modem was out for 3 days last week. Usually, I can get in a little RSS feed reading time at work, but it was an incredibly hectic week, so my feeds & email got severely backlogged! The Grande cable guy got us back up Friday evening around 7 p.m. and I’ve finally dug out just this morning.
August 5th, 2007 at 4:37 pm
You see? This is what happens when I don’t have the net! The comments pile up and then you guys have to read my responses, 15 at a time! (#):)
@Opal – So are you on FIOS now?
@Tish – “It’s sad in a way that we rely so heavily upon the internet, but ya know – it’s a GREAT thing!” Couldn’t've put it better!
@Angela – HA HA HA! Verzion told me that the NFL network is included in their 3 for $99 deal. *shrugs* Not a sermon, just a thought!
@CristianR – I’m glad you’re feelin’ me. BTW, did you change your header?
@Brown – MAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYbe. (#):)
@Valentin – “…maybe guys from cast are democrats…”
I think they’re just idiots. *nod*
@Gnomey – “…whatever works…” is right. But geez. I LIKE MY LITTLE ROUTINES. Just let me stay in some of them. (#):)
@Rob – It looks like you and me are running parallel lives right now. (#):) But the difference is, I haven’t even tried to catch up on my feeds yet. Ha ha.

See I get irrational when my internet is down. Even if it’s for a few minutes. I start panicking, going into spasms and I just don’t look pretty. LOL, I hope you get it all straightened out soon !!
August 5th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
@Sassy – I think for the present, I’m back in black as it were. When it goes down next time, ohhhh…
“My prediction? PAIN.”
August 5th, 2007 at 7:08 pm
No internet? But what did you do for a week? I hope you were not forced to have conversations with real people, or god forbid, forced to “smell the roses”!!! Gasp!
August 5th, 2007 at 8:19 pm
@Danielle – It’s funny you say that because I just started a new habit from this book I finished. It’s only checking my e-mail and stuff twice a day. So even before this happened, I was taking a step outside my computer.
Next time I stop to smell the roses though, yours will be the first cell I call. (#);)
August 5th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
hey, sorry Comcast has sucked major for you. We’ve never had a problem with them in our two years of service. I know a lot of people who do, however. I long for the time when towns let multiple cable companies come in….
August 5th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
@Rach – You know, my parents have never had problems either. I guess me and the wife just got unlucky with where we live now.
And fortunately where I am, I do have the choice of Comcast and Verizon. And with Verizon FIOS being faster, I’m actually pretty excited about it. (Yes, faster download speeds are what do it for me. (#);) )

Bush, I know exactly what you mean! I’ve had two lightning strikes to my computer in July which kept me offline for about two weeks combines. Veeery frustrating. I hope it all gets settled for you soon!
Shine on,
Aaron
August 6th, 2007 at 7:02 am
@Aaron – Thanks dude, and I think you had it worse with lightning strikes. Hope your comp made it!
August 6th, 2007 at 10:57 am
I too get frustrated when I dont get access to Internet, happened a lot of times.
August 6th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
@Nirmal – I hope YOUR stuff didn’t get hit by lightning!
August 7th, 2007 at 10:42 am
*hugs his Dell laptop*
It can be frustrating to not have internet access when you want it, but there are times I wish I didn’t have access just to get away for awhile
We have Mediacom here (instead of Comcast), but I made the switch to DSL and haven’t had a single problem since. I’ve heard decent stuff about Verizon, but Sprint Wireless seems to be the best and fastest.
Either way, you are better off not using Cable modems as they seem to be down all the time.
August 8th, 2007 at 8:15 am
@Kyle – Ha ha. Thanks for the thoughts. Yeah, it looks like I’m going to be getting FIOS installed either way now.
