I Got a New System Selector!

I forgot for a second that I had picked this up on Tuesday of this week, but as I was taking it out of the car one of my boys said, “Uh-oh, looks like you got a new toy.” Ha ha. As soon as he said that, my face just lit up in glee since I knew I would at least have 30 seconds to talk about it with someone. (#):)

So recently I suddenly found myself in the market for a system selector after I received my component cables for the Wii. The back of my A/V receiver only has inputs for two component cables and they were currently being used by my PS2 and XBox. So up ’till now, my new Wii cables have just been laying on the floor beside the TV lookin’ all lonely and stuff. But the other day I was up at GameStop and I saw a system selector there. I checked it over and was immediately smitten.

Check it out – It has inputs for 4 systems, (3 back and 1 front) – composite, s-video, component AND Ethernet! I was looking at a similar selector at Best Buy before and I swear it was somewhere in the $75 buck range (because it had Ethernet). Online at Best Buy, I could find similar selectors, but at a slightly higher price tag and without Ethernet. OH, did I forget to mention that the one I picked up was only 20 bucks!?!?Today, I set to work hooking everything up to and it and I couldn’t be happier with it’s performance. The only thing I overlooked though was that it doesn’t have any optical jacks and currently I have both the Xbox and PS2 outputting sound via optical cords. *rolling eyes* That certainly would’ve made me pause on buying it (had I thought about it), but now actually using it…It’s really not that much of a problem. With my home theater receiver, I can elect whether or not to play the audio for a source from it’s analog connection or digital, so if I’m just casually gaming or playing the Wii, I use the analog connection and otherwise I use digital. If I want to use the digital connection for my XBox though, I would have to assign that that over though since it’s on a different connection on my receiver than the one being used by my selector. So again, for $20 I’m extremely happy. I haven’t used the Ethernet ports though so I can’t say too much about it. Oh, and even though this sounds like a PPP or sponsored review or something, it’s not. I just really liked this thing…I mean, for $20 bucks!? You can’t beat it. The only thing I don’t like though is it looks and feels kinda cheap and doesn’t go with everything else in my HT setup which is black. But it does what it’s supposed to and comes with a bunch of cords. And everyone knows, I absolutely love free cables. (#):)
